Water…The Key to a Successful Accounting Career?



Water is essential to life and to your career in public accounting. Accounting + water…what’s the connection?

Our bodies run on water and are made up of about 60% water; it regulates our internal body temperature, boosts metabolism, flushes waste, lubricates joints and acts as a shock absorber for the brain and spinal cord.

With busy season upon us and longer accounting firm hours for our tax professionals fast approaching, it’s vital to INCREASE intake of water. Why? Well, our energy is impacted largely by our consumption of water. Decreasing your water consumption by 5% will cause up to a 30% loss of energy. More water = more energy and energy is something we all need to get through our busiest time of the year…the months approaching April 15th tax deadline.

This winter, we challenge you to take “The Water Dare” and aim to drink half your body weight in water each day. So a 150lb person should aim to drink…you guessed it…around 75 ounces of water. (And no, the ice cubes in your drink don’t count!) Being properly hydrated will give you a natural source of energy and help increase your clarity and focus helping you perform at an optimal level.

So as you can see….water can potentially make all of us better accountants and one might even say, lead to career advancement!!!!
